Realme unveils Watch 3, two Bluetooth headsets and a PC Monitor

Realme’s “1+5+T” strategy dictates that it focuses on (1) smartphones, (5) AIoT categories (watches, headsets and other smart products) and (T) for TechLife. Today the company launched several products in the second the “5” category – a new watch, two Bluetooth headsets – as well as a monitor.

Realme Watch 3

The Realme Watch 3 sits somewhere between a sequel to the Watch 2 and a cheaper Watch 2 Pro. One of the major upgrades is the screen size, which has grown to 1.8” – a hair larger than the one on the 2 Pro (they have basically the same aspect ratio).

To keep size under control, Realme slimmed down the bezels, so the screen-to-body ratio went up from 50% on the Watch 2 to 67.5% on the Watch 3. Note that resolution took a major hit – it’s just 240 x 286px, lower than even the 320 x 320px of the Watch 2 (the Watch 2 Pro display is 320 x 385px). Also, the brightness dropped to 500nits, down from 600nits previously.
Another big change is that the Watch 3 now offers Bluetooth calling, something that was exclusive to the Pro previously. You can dial from your wrist and use the built-in speaker and microphone. To ensure good quality audio, Realme powers the speaker with a Smart PA and uses a dual-mode Bluetooth 5.3 chip, plus in-house AI-based noise-reduction algorithms.

The Realme Watch 3 supports over 110 sport modes. Using its onboard sensors – heart rate and SpO2 trackers – it can calculate recovery time, VO2 Max and more. It also monitors your heart rate and blood oxygen 24/7, sleep and stress tracking enabled as well (the latter being based on heart rate variability).

The large display is used to display notifications, including IM messages, which can include 50 common emojis. There are also over 100 watch faces you can use to customize your look.

The watch body is made out of polycarbonate and it has a metallic coating. As before, the watch is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance, though Realme warns that it is not suitable for swimming or showering. The watch measures 45 x 37 x 11.5mm and weighs 40g without the strap, the default silicone straps weigh 14g.

The watch has a 340mAh battery, which is enough for 7 days of typical operation. That’s a downgrade compared to the Watch 2, which advertised 12 days of endurance (on a 315mAh battery). A full charge takes 2.5 hours.

Realme’s designers sculpted the Buds Air 3 Neo to make them both beautiful and comfortable. The charging case has a “curved lip” to allow easier access to the buds when taking them out. The buds themselves have also been redesigned to fit better in the ear. And used an NCVM vacuum coating process to give them a premium glossy look.

There is a 10mm dynamic driver with a composite diaphragm that enhances the bass, mids and highs. The Realme Link app lets you tune the Dolby Atmos sound. Speaking of sound, that is transmitted over Bluetooth 5.2 using the AAC codec and feature an 88ms low-latency mode. Fast pairing is enabled on supported phones.

As for battery life, the buds can last 7 hours straight before needing to go back in the case. With the case, the total listening time is 30 hours. The Dart Charge hardware is quick to top up the battery – 10 minutes are enough for 2 hours of playback. A full charge takes 2 hours.

The lightweight buds (4g) have touch controls and are rated IPX5, meaning they are protected against sweat and splashes of water. There is AI-powered noise cancellation for calls, which isolates human voices and suppresses other sounds.

The 2S buds connect over Bluetooth 5.3 with support for multi-point connectivity, meaning they can easily switch between two paired devices. They also have an 88ms low-latency mode and use the AAC codec. Like the Air 3 Neo, these have an AI-powered noise reduction for calls (but no ANC for music).

Further improvements over the likes of the Realme Buds Wireless 2 Neo include improved battery life – from 17 hours to 24 hours – and faster charging – 20 minutes get you 7 hours of listening time (vs. 10 minutes for 2 hours).

The 2S headset weighs a hair under 24g and the buds have magnets in them, allowing you to snap them securely around your neck. The IPX4 rating offers protection against splashes of water.
